Find Tipton County Release Dates

A Tipton County projected release date depends on the kind of custody and the sentence behind it. A pretrial county detainee may have no set date because bond, court orders, and holds still control. A sentenced state prisoner has a formal calculation, but eligibility and actual release are not the same event. To learn when they will be released, first identify the custodian, then use the state offender record, court judgment, or county jail record that fits the case. Credits, new orders, parole action, and other holds may change the expected path.

Tipton County Release Date Types

Projected, eligible, scheduled, and actual are not interchangeable. Tennessee's documented state term is Release Eligibility Date, or RED. TDOC calculates RED under the judgment, sentence range, governing law, and permitted credits. It is the first lawful eligibility point for the applicable process. It is not a promise of parole and not the date a prison gate will open.

An actual release date records completed departure from a named custodian. A sentence-expiration date marks the end of the sentence calculation. A supervision discharge date marks the later end of parole or probation authority. A transfer date closes custody at one site but begins it under another agency. Each date answers a different question.

Scheduled versus actual: An expected date may change. Only the custodian's completed release record confirms when physical release occurred.
Date termWhat it means
Booking or admissionCustody begins at the identified facility, sometimes after an earlier arrest
REDTDOC's calculated statutory eligibility point, often relevant to parole
Parole hearingThe Board considers the case; schedules may change
Grant dateThe Board acted favorably, but release may still await conditions
Actual releaseThe custodian completed the exit or transfer event
Sentence expirationThe sentence calculation ends, possibly after an earlier supervised release
Supervision dischargeParole or probation authority ends

Note: Use the exact label shown in the official record, especially when two systems display dates with different legal purposes.

Lookup Tipton County Release Dates

The search route starts with custody type. FOIL is designed for Tennessee felony offenders who are now or were formerly in TDOC custody or supervision. It is not a complete archive of people who served only a Tipton County misdemeanor sentence. For a jail-only case, use Corrections and the court. For state custody, use FOIL and TDOC sentence information.

  1. Identify whether the person is held pretrial, serving a county sentence, in TDOC custody, or already under parole or probation.
  2. Read the court judgment. Note every count, offense date, sentence, range, jail credit, and whether terms run concurrently or consecutively.
  3. For TDOC cases, search FOIL by TDOC or TOMIS ID, or by name, race, and aliases.
  4. Match the photo, identifiers, offense, and location. Review only release and sentence information actually displayed.
  5. For an exact state calculation, use TDOC's sentence-information request. Do not estimate from the sentence headline.
  6. For Tipton County Jail, call Corrections and obtain the court and jail record. Ask whether another hold or transfer affects release.

The TDOC offender-search page introduces the state route.

Tipton County release date lookup through TDOC offender search
FOIL can help locate a current or former TDOC felony record before a sentence calculation is requested.

FOIL offers name, TDOC or TOMIS ID, and SID search modes, with a CAPTCHA. Its official description says results may include a photo, incarcerated, probation, parole, or inactive status, location, offenses, sentence data, hearing status, and release information. The exact projected-date label on a live result was not verified, so RED and release or sentence information are the safe terms.

Tipton County Jail Release Dates

County pretrial cases follow a different clock. A person awaiting court action normally has no TDOC RED or state projected date. Bond, court orders, unresolved holds, and local processing determine what happens next. A judge may authorize release, yet jail staff must still resolve other cases, confirm holds, return property, and complete discharge or transfer.

For a misdemeanor sentence, obtain the actual judgment, jail credit, and local computation. Tipton County publishes no county good-time rule, weekend-release policy, fixed release hour, or online projected-date field in the reviewed official sources. Do not transplant TDOC sentence-credit rules into the county jail. Call Tipton County Corrections at 901-475-3305 and use the General Sessions or Circuit docket as appropriate.

Does a bond order give the release time? No. It records judicial authority. The Tipton County Jail release record supplies the completed timestamp and should identify whether the event was community release or transfer.

The county's full released-inmates and records path explains how to request that completed event record.

Tennessee Release Date Calculation

Tennessee does not have one universal rule that every prisoner serves 85 percent. A proper calculation starts with the judgment, offense, offense date, sentence range, jail credit, and concurrent or consecutive terms. It then applies the correct version and subsection of Tenn. Code Ann. § 40-35-501 and any offense-specific floor.

Historically stated general range percentages include 20 percent for especially mitigated, 30 percent for standard, 35 percent for multiple, 45 percent for persistent, and 60 percent for career classifications. Those figures are not a shortcut. Offense-specific rules and later laws may override them. Public Chapter 988 applies to listed offenses committed on or after July 1, 2022. Some listed offenses require 100 percent service. Another group may earn credits but cannot fall below 85 percent.

Sentence-reduction credits are governed by Tenn. Code Ann. § 41-21-236. Credits may be earned, withheld, or lost when the sentencing scheme permits. They cannot defeat an offense-specific floor. This is why multiplying a sentence by one percentage can produce a false date. The law in force on the offense date controls, not the rule most often repeated today.

Sentence credit
A lawful reduction applied under the governing sentence scheme; it is not automatic at the maximum amount.
Concurrent
Sentences run at the same time, subject to the judgment and calculation.
Consecutive
One sentence follows another, extending the combined calculation.
Detainer
A request or hold from another authority that may affect transfer or release.
Revocation
Official action ending or changing supervised release after the required process.

Read Tipton County Date Records

A safe reading sequence prevents false precision. First identify all counts and sentence terms in the judgment. Next determine which version of Tennessee law applies to each offense date. Then identify credits that were legally earned and actually applied. Last, distinguish eligibility, hearing, grant, physical release, expiration, and discharge.

For parole, eligibility only places the case in the Board process. A hearing can grant, deny, defer, or lead to later review. A grant can contain conditions, and release-plan approval remains separate. Pre-parole rescission can end a grant before departure. The chronology may therefore include RED, hearing date, grant date, certificate date, and actual release date, all of which differ.

When FOIL or a web display is unclear, request an official calculation. Preserve the displayed date and access time, but do not calculate a named person's exit based on a general percentage. A corrected judgment or new hold can change a date that looked firm.

Note: RED sets an eligibility point; the Tennessee Board of Parole decides release only after eligibility and within its legal authority.

Request Tipton County Sentence Records

TDOC provides a dedicated request path for sentence calculations. Choose Offender Information and then Sentence Information for a felony offender in state prison. For a felony offender housed in a county jail, choose Offender Information, County Jail, and Sentence Information. Fax requests go to 615-259-3783. Responses to fax requests are returned by mail, so include a mailing address.

The TDOC sentence-information page is the official fallback when RED or other sentence data is ambiguous.

The TDOC request route separates state-prison sentence information from felony sentence questions for a person housed in a county jail.

FOIL technical support is available at 629-888-5870 or 888-890-8183 and apps.support@tn.gov. That contact handles portal problems. Questions about the legal calculation belong with TDOC sentence staff, the court, or counsel. For a historical record, use TDOC's archive route rather than relying on a current display.

Why Tipton County Dates Change

A projected date reflects facts and law known to the timekeeper at that point. Later events can change the calculation or stop physical release without changing the basic sentence. The record should identify the event rather than leaving the reader to guess.

FactorPossible effectBest record
Credit earned, withheld, or lostMoves a permitted calculation within statutory limitsTDOC sentence calculation

Discipline or revocationMay affect credits, eligibility, or return to custodyTDOC, Board, or court decision

Mandatory reentry supervision under § 40-35-506 may place an eligible person serving a qualifying post-July 1, 2021 felony sentence in the community for the last year when listed conditions are met. Active detainers, pending charges, custody classification, discipline, and timing after revocation can create barriers. It is conditional, not an automatic Tipton County release date.

Tipton County Release Date Exceptions

TDOC also describes determinate release as a special probation route for a felony term of at least one year and no more than two years after at least 30 percent service, with required notices and an objection process. It is not the rule for every short sentence. The judgment, offense date, agency record, and statute still control.

A state prisoner can also receive a parole grant that is later rescinded before release. An incomplete condition or unapproved plan may delay the exit. Once released on parole, the person remains supervised and the later discharge date should not be confused with the prison release date.

Do not estimate: County good time, a weekend rule, or an 85-percent shortcut is unsupported for a person-specific Tipton County date.

Confirm Tipton County Actual Release

For a pending agency event, a notification can provide a useful prompt. The Tipton County VINE inmate check explains how to match a record and register. VINE still needs confirmation from the custodian because an event can lag or describe a transfer.

For Tipton County Jail, obtain the completed booking or release record and match it to the court docket. For TDOC, compare FOIL with sentence information and any Board action. For federal custody, use BOP. For ICE detention at West Tennessee Detention Facility, use ICE's locator, DRIL, and the facility. A person leaving one system may enter another.

The final statement should name its scope: released from Tipton County Jail, released from TDOC custody to parole, transferred to another custodian, or discharged from supervision. That wording preserves what the record truly proves.
